David D. Gilbaugh is a fascinating ceramicist that draws inspiration form the natural world around him. The artist focuses on hand-building and form; the largest portion of his works being teapots, mugs or vases. Using clay as his medium, Gilbaugh creates intricate pieces that depict absolute nature- old wood, stumps, and textured dirt. All of these elements are combined by the artist in his most prominent series entitled “Treepots” (depicted here). “Trees are the primary subject of my work and human emergence is its’ theme. Through this creative work I engage the interrelationship between humanity and nature.”

David Gilbaugh uses clay, stone and various stains to achieve his unique look.
